Shanklin on the Isle of Wight is a popular UK holiday destination and is famed for having one of the highest sunshine index's in the British Isles. Shanklin has a fantastic shallow sandy beach which has one many awards for the quality of it water. The fact that its one of the safest and cleanest beaches on the island makes it a popular destination for watersports enthusiasts. Shanklin is also well know for its Old Village and Shanklin Chine and these attractions are well worth a visit when planning your Isle of Wight Holiday. The esplanade along the beach is populated by many hotels and guest houses so there is something suitable for holiday makers of all types.

Shanklin has two beaches known as 'Small Hope Beach' and 'Hope Beach' Hope Beach stretches in the opposite direction. Small Hope has beach huts which can be hired by the public, a cafe for refreshment and continues along the eastern shore of the island until it joins Sandown Bay and its famous pier. At the top of Hope Beach is Shanklin esplanade with a small amusement arcade and other attractions aimed towards children. At the end of the esplanade there is an elevator up the side of the cliff. There was also once a pier here however it was destroyed in a severe storm in the late 80's.
